In the European Union, the heat sector accounts for about half of the final energy consumption. The sector therefore plays a central role in achieving national and international climate targets and the decarbonisation of the energy system. In order to phase out fossil fuels in the medium-term, an energy turnaround must largely be carried out within the heat sector as well the coupling of individual energy sectors (hybridisation).
With ambitious climate goals set for the future, energy-flexible buildings and estates will play an increasingly important role. This also applies to innovative, sustainable and economic system solutions for old buildings using prefabricated concepts.
The producing industry accounts for about 30% of the energy demand in the EU. It therefore plays an important role in reaching national as well as international climate goals and in reducing fossil CO2 emissions.
